Carers
- What checks do you carry out - identity, references, DBS?
- What experience will the carer have with our relative's condition?
- Can we talk to a carer before deciding?
- What happens if the relationship doesn't work?
The arrangement
Providers either put carers on their own payroll or, like Oxford Sisters, act as introductory agencies. Either model is legitimate; what matters is that responsibilities are written down plainly.
- When the carer is off, who organises the replacement?
- Who answers the phone at evenings and weekends?
- How frequently is the care plan reviewed?
Costs
- What exactly does the weekly price include?
- Do bank holidays, a second person or heavier needs add to the bill?
- What notice period applies to changes or cancellation?
