Personal Care

Personal care at home in Oxford

Washing, dressing and grooming handled with tact and respect.

Accepting help with intimate tasks is rarely easy. What makes the difference is continuity - the same considerate person each day, who knows how you like things done.

Because your carer is resident, there is time to do things properly: a long bath on a Sunday evening, hair set before visitors arrive, nobody rushing out of the door to the next appointment.

  • Continence support is needed, day or night
  • Grooming that used to matter is being let go

Getting started

  1. 01

    Preferences first

We note routines and any preference for a female carer.

  2. 02

    Equipment check

We look at bathroom safety and any aids that would help.

  3. 03

    Carer introduced

Care begins with someone you've chosen.

The Oxfordshire picture

Grab rails, bath lifts and similar adaptations generally follow an occupational therapy visit organised through the county council. For skin integrity and continence products, Oxford Health's district nurses set the approach and our carers work to it.

Questions we're asked

Yes. That preference is respected for every introduction we make.

No. Clinical tasks remain with district nurses; carers provide everyday personal care and report any concerns.
