Respite Care

Respite care in Oxfordshire

A trusted stand-in at home, so family carers can take time for themselves.

Caring for a parent or partner is often a full-time job with no annual leave. Respite care lets you hand over for a week or several, knowing routines will be kept exactly as you set them.

Your relative remains at home, which most people find far less disruptive than a temporary stay in a residential home.

The Oxfordshire picture

Unpaid carers in Oxfordshire can ask Oxfordshire County Council for a carer's assessment, and Carers Oxfordshire provides information, advice and support. Both are worth contacting even if you plan to fund breaks yourself.

Questions we're asked

We ask for a short minimum stay so that everyone can settle in. Most respite arrangements last between one and four weeks.

We do our best to send the same person for repeat breaks, which most families prefer.
